USA vs Portugal Predictions

US face another difficult night

The USA’s World Cup preparations took a hit last week, as they fell to a 5-2 defeat to Belgium. The 2026 co-hosts have arranged four big friendlies ahead of the tournament, and they face the second of those on Tuesday when they host Portugal.

The Portuguese drew 0-0 with Mexico in their first game of this international break, but they dominated possession and created the better chances in that stalemate. They should face a more open game this week, as they meet a US side that has seen both teams score in five straight internationals.

The Portuguese kept only two clean sheets in 2025, conceding in visits to Denmark, Germany, Hungary, and the Republic of Ireland.

However, they should profit against a US side which conceded 10 shots on target against Belgium. The Red Devils were good value for their victory, which was cause for alarm for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Portugal tend to look like a more fluid attacking side with Cristiano Ronaldo out, so back them to get the better of an open game and claim a 3-1 victory.
