Utrecht vs PSV Predictions

Consolidation is the name of Utrecht’s game

With a seven-point gap to their closest chasing side ahead of the weekend, Utrecht can afford at least a couple of slip ups across the final 11 games of the Eredivisie campaign in their quest for a European play-off position.

Slip up they have, Utrecht are without a clean sheet in five consecutive league games (W2, D2, L1) and that is likely to only get worse in this clash, as they welcome a PSV side who are averaging 2.5 scored goals per league game this season.

Dreams of a treble are alive and kicking

Now in the final of the KNVB Beker, still in Europe after their 4-4 draw with Copenhagen last time out and just two points from the peak of the table ahead of the round, PSV can dare to dream of completing a historic treble, one which would be the first since 1987/88!

You would at least fancy them to bag a couple of goals here then, against an Utrecht side who have allowed PSV to score at least twice in nine of the last 11 competitive H2H meetings.

At the prices, over 2.5 goals in this game looks like brilliant value even at a shade of odds-on. Five of PSV’s last six games saw three or more goals while they kept no clean sheets throughout, which is partly why I am going for a smaller stakes selection on a 2-1 away win.
