Utrecht are blowing teams away

Utrecht already have one foot in the play-off round of Europa League qualifying after claiming a 3-1 away success over Servette during last week’s first leg.

That result is part of what has been a strong start to the season for Ron Jans’ side, who finished fourth in the Eredivisie last term, as they have won all four of their matches to date, scoring 14 goals in the process.

Keeping clean-sheets has not been so easy – they have conceded in three of their four matches – but Utrecht have only lost one of their last 12 games, a run that dates back to March, and they should have too much firepower for their Swiss visitors.

Tough start to season for Servette

By contrast to Utrecht, it has been a difficult start to the season for Servette, who were dumped out of Champions League qualifying by Viktoria Plzen and have also taken just one point from their opening three matches in the Swiss Super League.

It has certainly been a tough start to life in the Servette dugout for Jocelyn Gourvennec, but his side have at least been scoring, netting in all six of their matches under the Frenchman.

Servette can score at the Stadion Galgenwaard, but Utrecht should prove too strong, and after notching at least three goals in all their matches this season, the Dutch side can produce another eye-catching success.
