Valencia vs Sporting Gijon Betting Tips

Gary Neville’s side won 1-0 at Las Palmas in midweek to make it into the Copa Del Rey Semi-Finals but they are yet to win under the Englishman in the league. That run surely has to end soon and this is as good an opportunity as any against a Sporting Gijon side that are only one place off the bottom.

They did though win 5-1 on Monday night when Arnaldo Sanabria netted a hat-trick for the 2nd time this season against Real Sociedad. They are a good team to watch as there are usually plenty of goals in their games but they had lost 9 out of their previous 11 matches so defensively they are too easily cracked at times.

The same could be said of Valencia who haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 11 in the league. Both teams have scored in 8 of those matches and in all of their last 5 games at the Mestalla, which have all ended in score draws. Therefore backing this game to see goals at both ends looks a decent bet at 4/5.

Sporting Gijon’s last two matches have both finished 5-1 with them capitulating defensively in the 1st half at the Bernabeu in their most recent away game. This is another big ground and they’ll enjoy their trip and you can certainly see them scoring given Valencia’s defensive issues and some of their exciting young attacking players.

However Valencia are unbeaten in 23 league matches at the Mestalla and will have taken some confidence from that win in Gran Canaria on Thursday. Therefore they could just sneak this and are worth a punt at 7/1 to win this one 2-1.
