Valladolid vs Celta Vigo Predictions
- Only one of Real Valladolid’s last four matches has contained over 2.5 goals.
- Meanwhile, only Cadiz (four) have scored fewer than the hosts’ tally of six league goals this season.
- Celta Vigo have only hit the net twice on the road in LaLiga this campaign.
- Valladolid have lost three of their last five games, and Celta have suffered four defeats in five outings, meaning the result markets are perhaps best avoided.
Out-of-shape duo meet in LaLiga
Wednesday’s LaLiga action pits two of Spain’s most out-of-form sides in direct competition with one another; with Real Valladolid only winning twice all season and Celta Vigo suffering four defeats in their last five matches, both are in need of the points when they do battle at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla. Punters expecting plenty of goalmouth action, however, are likely to be disappointed.
Only Cadiz – with an awful return of four goals – have done worse at the sharp end of the pitch than Valladolid in LaLiga this season. Pacheta’s men have only hit the net six times in nine games this campaign, only doing so once in four outings on home soil. Meanwhile, although only six teams have managed more shots than Valladolid in LaLiga this campaign, it has been a case of quantity over quality for them; only five Spanish top-flight outfits have created fewer expected goals (xG).
Celta Vigo, meanwhile, have lost four of their last five matches, failing to score multiple goals in any of those contests. Eduardo Coudet’s men have particularly struggled on the road, losing three of their four away trips this campaign (winning one) and only hitting the net twice in those games. Four of Celta’s last five head-to-head meetings with Valladolid have contained under 2.5 goals, and if the duo’s recent attacking returns are anything to go by, more of the same is likely here.
Cagey clash anticipated
With Valladolid hitting one home goal all season and Celta Vigo only striking twice on the road, punters should expect a tight contest, and under 2.5 match goals looks a strong main selection.
Meanwhile, for all their offensive woes, both teams have managed just a single clean sheet in their last five matches, so a 1-1 draw could represent a decent correct score prediction.
