Venezia vs Napoli Predictions

  • Venezia are winless in 10 Serie A matches, losing seven of those.
  • Napoli, meanwhile, have won three league games in a row since drawing at Juventus last month.
  • Only Salernitana have scored fewer Serie A goals than Venezia this season, and no team has managed fewer shots than Paolo Zenetti’s men.

Napoli expecting comfortable trip to Venice

After a difficult winter characterised by injuries and frustrating results, Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli have begun 2022 in strong fashion, following up a draw at Juventus with three consecutive wins. The Partenopei are four points behind Inter at the summit of Serie A, eagerly awaiting any slip-ups from the defending champions.

Napoli, who retain Italy’s strongest defensive record after conceding just 16 goals in 23 league games, are almost back to full strength, with the return of their numerous injury-hit stars coinciding with the end of the Africa Cup of Nations, and will be confident of extending their strong run at Venezia on Sunday.

Napoli beat Venezia 2-0 on the opening day of the season, and Paolo Zanetti’s team are on a winless run of 10 league games, leaving them firmly in the relegation mix. Zanetti will hope the January additions of former Bayern midfielder Michael Cuisance and former Manchester United winger Nani can provide a spark for the men from the floating city; only rock-bottom Salernitana have scored fewer than Venezia’s 20 league goals this term, and no team has managed fewer shots.

Back Napoli for a shutout win

Napoli have only conceded one goal in their last three away matches, and have only lost one league away game all season, winning seven and drawing three. Spalletti’s team have rediscovered their winning formula since Christmas, and we’re backing the best defensive unit in Italy to win to nil against poor opposition on Sunday.

With Victor Osimhen, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne all fit and firing, a repeat of the Neapolitans’ 2-0 opening-day win over Venezia could prove to be a decent correct score prediction, meanwhile.
