      Venezuela vs Ecuador Predictions

Venezuela are never expected to put up much of a challenge in World Cup qualifying, and they haven’t surprised anyone so far in this campaign.

They have lost all three of their opening games, with Paraguay, Brazil, and Bolivia putting a combined eight goals past their goalkeeper so far.

This takes their overall form record to six losses and one draw from their last seven games, with only a draw against Panama in a friendly match saving their blushes a bit.

This leaves them at the bottom of South American World Cup qualifying, and on Tuesday they come up against the side at the top of the table.

Ecuador have won all three of their games so far, with Argentina, Bolivia, and Uruguay all falling victim to Ecuador’s excellent form.

Their 2-1 win over Uruguay on Thursday made it five wins on the trot for Ecuador, although their poor showing in the Copa America will still be fresh in the memory.

Recent history between these sides have been fairly even. Ecuador have taken the win twice in their last six meetings, with Venezuela winning three times and a draw being played out the last time they met in 2012.

We aren’t expecting it to be that close on Tuesday, as Ecuador are the clear favourites considering their form.

Venezuela have conceded seven goals in their last two games, whilst Ecuador have scored exactly two goals in each of their last six matches.

A win for the visitors could extend their lead at the top of South American World Cup Qualifying table, depending on other results, but it would at least maintain the two point lead they have over Chile.

With one team in excellent form and the other the complete opposite, it seems like Ecuador should be the clear bookies favourites for this one. Fortunately for us, they’re not. Odds of 6/4 for an Ecuador Win look almost too good to be true, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 2-0 correct score prediction at 10/1.
