Tip Reasoning

  • Verona have lost their last three games, and won just one of their last six in, in all competitions.
  • Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last four Serie A matches, scoring 12 goals in that run.
  • Dusan Vlahovic has now netted in six consecutive Serie A games, and is clear at the top of the leagues’ goalscoring charts.

Verona’s ups-and-downs

While Igor Tudor has lost just four of his 15 league matches in charge of Verona, his team have won just one of their last six games in all competitions, after a 1-0 loss at Torino on Saturday. Both teams have scored in nine of Verona’s last 11 Serie A games, in which Tudor’s side have kept just one clean sheet.

Indeed, Verona have entertained throughout the Croatian’s time at the helm, with 64 goals being scored in their 18 league games so far this season. However, a leaky defence looks likely to limit their ambitions; only six Serie A clubs, the majority of them relegation candidates, have conceded more goals.

Wednesday’s opponents Fiorentina came from 2-0 down to draw with Sassuolo on Saturday, and should have won the match based on the balance of play. They’re unbeaten in four league games, scoring 12 goals during that run. Despite winning just one of their last five away matches, Vincenzo Italiano’s Viola have won at difficult grounds this term, counting Atalanta, Bologna and Udinese amongst their scalps on the road.

Viola worth backing, with Vlahovic on fire

Fiorentina’s recent form has seen them move within six points of the top four, and much of that has been down to the remarkable goalscoring prowess of Dusan Vlahovic, who has netted in six successive Serie A games. As always, the in-demand Serb is worth an anytime goalscorer punt, after scoring almost half of his team’s league goals this season.

With Verona’s form having been up-and-down over the past month or so, I’m backing Fiorentina to continue their unbeaten run with a crucial away win. 2-1 to the visitors seems a decent correct score prediction, with Verona able to match Fiorentina’s impressive record of 33 league goals scored this season.
