Villarreal and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Fresh from three successive wins over Espanyol, Osasuna and Girona, Villarreal look prime contenders to make the top five in La Liga this season and they should be too strong for Leganes. That said, the visitors are battling relegation and can nick a consolation goal.

Villarreal 2-1

Reason for tip

Six of Villarreal’s last seven wins have been by single-goal margins and with both sides likely to find the net in this one, a 2-1 win for the Yellow Submarine is the way to go in the correct-score betting.

Villarreal vs Leganes Predictions

  • Villarreal have won four of their last six games in La Liga
  • Both teams have scored in 24 of Villarreal’s 35 league contests
  • Leganes have scored six goals in their last three contests

High-scoring affair looks likely at El Madrigal

Villarreal and Leganes both have reasons to fight going into Wednesday’s La Liga contest and the match at El Madrigal should not disappoint.

With three league games left to play this season, Villarreal are looking to cling on to their place in the top five with a resurgent Real Betis just three points behind them.

As for Leganes, they are looking to preserve their top-flight status in Spain but sit the wrong side of the relegation line with three games to go, although they are just one point behind Alaves.

That could result in a cagey contest or an open one and given that only Las Palmas (four) and Real Valladolid (five) have kept fewer league clean sheets than Villarreal (six) this term, it looks likely to be the latter.

Villarreal can keep pushing to secure top-five berth

Results have started to pick up again for Villarreal, who have beaten Espanyol, Osasuna and Girona in their last three games, while they also defeated Betis back in April.

They can get over the line and secure three points but Leganes should get on the scoresheet, having scored twice against Sevilla and three times against Espanyol in their last two fixtures.

As for a correct score verdict, six of Villarreal’s last seven wins have been by single-goal margins, so 2-1 could be the way to play it.
