Vitoria Guimaraes -2

Reason for tip

Floriana may have only lost 1-0 in the first leg but they were lucky to come away with such a narrow margin of defeat. Vitoria racked up 21 shots, eight of which were on target, and 16 corners in Malta and should land a comfortable victory in Guimaraes where they have won 10 of their last 15 competitive games on their own patch.

Vitoria Guimaraes 3-0

Reason for tip

As already mentioned, Vitoria were dominant in Malta even if the result says otherwise and they should win this by at least three goals. Floriana managed just one shot on target in the first leg and look unlikely to score in Portugal.

Vitoria Guimaraes vs Floriana Predictions

  • Vitoria ran out 1-0 victors in Malta last week
  • Guimaraes have won 10 of their last 15 competitive home matches
  • Floriana lost their last three Maltese Premier League games last season by an aggregate score of 9-1

Floriana facing an early exit

Maltese outfit Floriana put in a bold display when losing 1-0 to a Vitoria side with much more than themselves, but the bottom line is they were eventually defeated and are unlikely to reverse that result in Portugal.

While they only lost by a single goal, which came late on in the 78th minute, Guimaraes racked up 21 efforts, eight shots on target and 16 corners as they dominated proceedings in Malta.

Back at the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques where they have won 10 of their last 15 competitive matches, Vitoria should be backed to land a comfortable victory on Thursday and progress into the next round of Conference League qualifying.

Conquerors can put visitors to the sword

Floriana are 26-time Maltese champions, but they ended last season with three losses and were dominated in the first leg, suggesting they may struggle in Guimaraes.

They could only manage a 1-1 draw away at San Marino minnows Tre Penne in the first round of qualifying and they are simply not up to the level of Vitoria, who beat Portuguese giants Porto just three months ago.

The Conquerors could have easily racked up more than one goal in Malta last week and with home advantage this time round, should be backed to win by at least three goals on Thursday.
