Wales vs Northern Ireland Predictions
- Wales have won five of their last eight home matches.
- Northern Ireland’s only away win in the past two years came against Luxembourg.
Dragons to take the win in dead rubber
Wales and Northern Ireland both suffered World Cup heartbreak last week as they were beaten in their respective qualifying play-offs, but the Dragons may get back to winning ways when they welcome Norn Iron to Cardiff on Tuesday.
An 86th-minute equaliser was followed by an agonising penalty shootout defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina, but they have won five of their last eight home fixtures and look a more complete package than Northern Ireland.
Michael O’Neill’s side were well beaten by Italy in their play-off tie, with that being their fifth away defeat in six games. Their only away win in the past two years came against Luxembourg and, with Wales being a big step up in quality, backing the home side to get the win appeals.
A repeat of their 2-0 defeat in Italy looks a solid correct score outcome, too. They have failed to score in their last two away games and Tuesday’s hosts have scored 21 goals in their last eight home matches.
