Reason For Watford vs Coventry Predictions

  • Fourth-placed Watford head into this fixture ten points ahead of Coventry who sit 21st after losing six of their ten matches this term.
  • The host’s have won four and drawn one of their five outings at Vicarage Road this season.
  • Coventry have picked up just one point from their five away league matches so far.

Watford to Enhance Strong Home Record

Fourth-placed Watford look a good thing to bolster their excellent home record this term when they entertain Coventry City at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets have been patchy on their travels since returning to the second tier with just five points gained from as many outings, but it’s been a different story for Vladan Ivic’s side on their own soil.

Wednesday’s 3-2 success over Stoke City made it four wins and one draw from five for Watford at Vicarage Road, and while they had to wait until deep into stoppage time to seal the deal via Ismaila Sarr, they should face far less resistance this weekend from the struggling Sky Blues.

Coventry are hovering just above the relegation zone in 21st after losing six of their first ten Championship games, with four of those defeats dished out on the road.

Mark Robins’ men can cause problems and managed to topple leaders Reading 3-2 at home last weekend, but their travel sickness continued in midweek with a 2-1 reverse at Forest – a result and performance more in keeping with the Sky Blues’ overall standards since promotion from League One.

Seldom is the Championship a league to get well behind odds-on favourites, but Watford can’t be ignored here at around the 4/6 mark based on their fine home form, Coventry’s away toils and the apparent gulf in quality between the teams.

The visitors have also failed to score in three of their five away games and have conceded two goals per match this season, so we’re also tipping up a 2-0 correct score.
