Watford 2-1

Reason for tip

Watford have won seven of their eight home league games this season and should overcome QPR eventually. The visitors broke their four-game scoring duck away from home when they beat Cardiff 2-0 in midweek and can get a goal in a 2-1 defeat, which would be Watford’s fourth such win by that score at home this term.

Cleverley demands more from Hornets

Watford and Queens Park Rangers can produce a thrilling Championship game on Saturday lunchtime after both clubs won their midweek matches.

Hornets head coach Tom Cleverley said he would like his side to be “a bit more entertaining” following Tuesday’s 1-0 win against Bristol City – a result which lifted them to fifth in the table.

Meanwhile, Rangers received a timely boost when they moved off the bottom of the standings with a 2-0 win at Cardiff – only their second league victory of the campaign.

Rangers may be turning the corner

Marti Cifuentes’ side had shown signs of life in their 1-1 home draw with Stoke last Saturday and could have taken all three points there had it not been for Zan Celar’s penalty miss.

QPR have the players to move out of the bottom three and safely into mid-division, but it will be tough to win at Watford, who have secured three points in seven of their eight games at Vicarage Road.

Backing over 2.5 goals in the game might be a better way to go because at least three goals have been scored in eight of Watford’s last 12 Championship games and also in four of the last five meetings of these clubs.
