Tip Reasoning

  • Watford have won six of their eight home matches this season (D1, L1).
  • Rotherham are winless in their last five Championship games, losing four.
  • The Millers have lost five away matches on the bounce but have managed to score in their last two and in five of their eight overall on the road this term.

Watford to Get Back on Track

Watford can get their season back on track at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night when they host a Rotherham United side who have lost their last five league matches on the road.

It’s been an underwhelming few weeks for the Hornets who have claimed just six points from their last five league games (W1, D3, L1) and they suffered their first home defeat of the campaign against Cardiff City on Saturday afternoon (0-1).

That result saw Watford shuffled down to seventh in the standings, but the good news for Vladan Ilic’s men is that they’re only three points adrift of the automatic promotion spots despite a disappointing month or so.

Watford will bid to regain the winning thread in midweek, and they’re presented with a fine opportunity to do so against strugglers Rotherham, who were easily beaten 3-1 at Coventry on Saturday.

That result marked a fifth consecutive away defeat for the Millers, who have also claimed just one point from their last five Championship starts overall.

So, it’s easy to see why the hosts should bag the points here, but we’ll back them to do so with both teams scoring. Watford have conceded in six of their eight home outings, while Rotherham have managed to net in five of their eight on the road, despite such poor results.

Alongside our Watford and both teams to score predictions, we’re also tipping the hosts to match Coventry’s weekend score-line over the Millers as they had previously notched 15 goals from seven at Vicarage Road, prior to their weekend loss against Cardiff.
