Stalemate expected at Vicarage Road

Neither Watford nor Stoke having anything to play for beyond pride heading into the final day of the Championship season and their mid-table tussle at Vicarage Road is unlikely to be a classic.

Having changed managers twice this season, Watford were unable to push for the playoffs and are set for another season in England’s second tier after their relegation from the Premier League last campaign.

The team will likely have a new-look to it next season and the club have already confirmed Joao Pedro will be departing for Brighton in the summer.

As for Stoke, they are only seven points adrift of the Hornets in the Championship standings and have finished the season on a whimper rather than a bang, having failed to win any of their last six league matches.

Both clubs will of course want to give their fans something to shout about on the final day but they have drawn 26 matches between them in the Championship this term and an underwhelming stalemate looks the most likely outcome.

That does not mean goals will not be on the cards, though, with both teams having scored in four of Watford’s last six matches, so a 1-1 draw looks a decent correct score prediction.
