Watford vs Swansea City Predictions
- Watford have seen over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six Championship games.
- That includes a 4-0 trouncing of Stoke City on Sunday, in what was Slaven Bilic’s first game at the helm.
- Swansea City have scored on all six of their away trips in all competitions this season, and have netted six goals across their last two matches.
Bilic enjoys dream start
Slaven Bilic could hardly have asked for a better start to his reign at Watford, as the Hornets stung Stoke City in a thumping 4-0 away win on Sunday. While Rob Edwards failed to get a tune out of Watford’s talented attackers, Bilic’s track record suggests he can, though Swansea City may have a part to play at Vicarage Road on Wednesday.
Watford have seen over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six matches, having not seen that tally hit in any of their previous six. While that gives an idea of the defensive wobbles which began to plague Edwards’ team, Ismaila Sarr and company should have more than enough quality to trouble second-tier defences. Watford’s tally of 15 league goals is only bettered by seven Championship teams thus far, and when Bilic last managed in this division, his West Bromwich Albion team matched Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United for goals.
Swansea, however, could represent tough opponents after winning three of their last four matches, including a terrific comeback win at beleaguered West Brom on Saturday. The Swans have gone on the road six times this season in all competitions, and have never failed to score. They have also plundered six goals across their last two games, but their record of 14 goals conceded is the second-worst among teams in the top half of the table.
Goals likely at Vicarage Road
Although the impetus provided by Bilic’s appointment makes the hosts favourites, Swansea’s recent form may just be enough to put punters off backing Watford, and turning to over 2.5 match goals could be a good alternative.
Meanwhile, a 2-1 home win could represent a solid correct score prediction – Watford have seen both teams score in four of their last six games, only keeping one clean sheet.
