West Ham United vs SC Freiburg Predictions
- West Ham have won each of their last ten home games in Europe
- Both teams have scored in five of Freiburg’s last six matches
- Michael Gregoritsch has five goals in this season’s Europa League
Hammers looking to recover
West Ham were controversially denied a late penalty in Germany last week that would have meant their Europa League round of 16 clash with Freiburg returned to London level but as it stands the Hammers are 1-0 down.
David Moyes’ side were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley at the weekend while the Bundesliga side beat VfL Bochum 2-1.
The home team could be in better form coming into this, with just two wins from their last 12 games in all competitions.
However their European record at the London Stadium is rock solid, having been victorious in their last ten home games.
Freiburg are looking to make the last eight of a European competition for the first time and will be encouraged by the recent struggles of their hosts.
Gregoritsch could play key role.
Michael Gregoritsch scored the only goal in the first leg and the Austrian striker could be a value selection to find the net again in this one.
The 29-year-old scored the winner in their weekend victory over Bochum and relishes this competition.
Gregoritsch has eight goals in the Europa League across the last two seasons and is averaging a goal every 60 minutes in this season’s competition, he could haunt the Hammers once more.
Correct score backers should side with a 2-1 win for the home team that would send this game to extra time.
