    Bayer Leverkusen

      Tip Reasoning

Three goals in 20 minutes from Bayern Munich consigned Wolfsburg to an early DFP Pokal exit on Tuesday, with the current cup holders’ only consolation being a 90th minute goal from Andre Schurrle.

This brought an end to Wolfsburg’s three match winning streak, and they will have to work hard to avoid spiralling into a spell of poor form. They did just that earlier in the season after Bayern Munich beat them in the Bundesliga, going on a four match winless streak and seeing the champions race away from them at the top.

A win for Wolfsburg on Saturday could see them leapfrog Schalke and take them to within two points of 2nd placed Borussia Dortmund though, whilst a loss would see Bayer Leverkusen overtake them and could see them slip down to 6th position.

Bayer Leverkusen aren’t a team you want to be facing at the moment either. They are unbeaten in five matches and have scored 14 goals in their last three games in all competitions.

A brace from Javier Hernandez in Leverkusen’s 6-0 thrashing of Viktoria Koln took his tally to seven in all competitions, with five of those coming from his last three outings.

I can see a high scoring match taking place on Saturday. With Javier Hernandez in form, Leverkusen scoring for fun, and Wolfsburg scoring eight of their own in the last four games it seems an inevitability.

The argument for this outcome gets even stronger when you take a look at the past meetings between the sides. Wolfsburg won the last meeting, a 5-4 thriller in Leverkusen. Including this match, 27 goals have been scored in the last six meetings, coming in at an average of nearly five goals per match.

The odds for Over 2.5 Match Goals look incredibly good value as well at 7/10, so I’m lumping some money on that along with a 2-2 correct scoreline at 10/1.
