      Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt Predictions

Wolfsburg got their competitive domestic campaign off to a good start at the beginning of the season, winning the German Super Cup on penalties against Bayern Munich.

Then, last Saturday, they comfortably dispatched of Stuttgarter Kickers in the DFP Pokal.

Their 4-1 victory saw Kevin De Bruyne get a goal and an assist, and that could be his last memory in a Wolfsburg shirt if the transfer rumours are true.

De Bruyne is a £50 million target for Manchester City, and reports are circulating that a deal between the 2 clubs and the player is close.

This would be a huge loss to Wolfsburg, as he was undoubtedly their key player in last season’s impressive campaign. He scored 16 goals and provided 27 assists in his 51 appearances for Wolfsburg last season, and his departure would leave a large hole in the squad.

However, he’s not out of the door yet, and there is still a chance he could stay and Wolfsburg and take part in their opening match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Eintracht Frankfurt have already seen a key figure in the dressing room leave the club this summer, with goalkeeper Kevin Trapp moving to Paris Saint Germain for a touch under £7 million.

Frankfurt also managed to progress in the DFP Pokal last Saturday, beating Bremer SV 3-0 away from home.

This match saw new signing Luc Castaignos get his Eintracht Frankfurt career off to a good start with the opening goal.

Eintracht Frankfurt were one of the few teams to avoid defeat against Wolfsburg last season, picking up a point in both of their Bundesliga fixtures. Before that, Wolfsburg had won 2, drawn 1, and lost 1 of their previous 4 fixtures. All of their last 5 meetings have seen both teams find the back of the net.

I think Wolfsburg will get their season underway with a win on Sunday, but considering the past scorelines between the sides I expect Eintracht Frankfurt to score at least once. Odds of 8/5 for Wolfsburg to Win and Both Teams to Score look like very good value as well.
