Wolves vs Bristol City Predictions

This is a big game for Bristol City and their boss Lee Johnson, who given the rate with which managers are hired and fired in this league must be starting to worry for his future. With Gary Rowett out of work, any Championship side on a bad run of form must be thinking a little more seriously about making a change and right now the Robins are one of the sides that appears to be in freefall.

The season started brightly enough for Bristol City but they come into this game having lost 6 of their last 7 in the league and 9 of their last 12 games in all competitions. As a result the Robins have slid from top six contention into what could turn into a relegation battle if the festive period doesn’t bring any relief. They haven’t been losing games heavily and you’d expect this to be a close game but Bristol City’s return of just 1 point from their last 6 away games makes you veer towards backing the hosts here.

Wolves and Paul Lambert are still getting to know each other but there have been a few positive signs and they should be stronger in 2017, with some key players returning from long-term injuries and possibly more money being spent by their wealthy Chinese owners in January. They’ve taken 7 points from their last 4 league games which is a good return when you consider the run they were on prior to that.

Scoring 4 times at home to Fulham in their most recent home game will have done their attacking players the world of good in terms of confidence. Their Portuguese contingent looks like it is starting to find its feet in England now with Ivan Cavaleiro in particular looking a threat. He has scored in 2 of Wolves’ last 3 games and can be backed to score anytime at 21/10 here.

While Wolves may have a poor home record this term, Bristol City have lost 64% of their away games so this is a good chance for a rare Molineux win for the hosts. The Robins look like a team lacking direction right now while Wolves are making progress under Paul Lambert and therefore backing Wolves to win at 6/5 looks a decent bet.
