Trophy-hungry Spurs to do the business at Adams Park
Wycombe may have pulled off a sensational 4-1 thrashing of Preston in the last round of the FA Cup, but their chances of progressing on Monday look decidedly slim against an improving Tottenham outfit desperate for silverware.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that his number one priority is providing the Spurs faithful with the trophies they crave so much, and the FA Cup offers a great opportunity to do just that.
While the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were rested in their last cup tie, Mourinho still named a strong squad against minnows Marine and they have followed that 5-0 win with a draw and a win in the Premier League to make it seven games without defeat in all competitions.
We’re fully expecting them to get the win here, but we do think Wycombe can trouble the Spurs back line. They have scored in eight of their last nine games and haven’t failed to score on home soil since the start of December. Spurs have conceded in six of their last seven on the road and, with their sole clean sheet in this period coming at Marine, backing both teams to score looks solid.
As previously stated, we do think Spurs have what it takes to progress. Wycombe’s last home defeat earlier this month was a 3-1 loss to Middlesbrough and Spurs have won 3-1 in two of their last four away games, so that’s what we’re opting for as our correct score prediction.
