Yeovil Town vs Bury Predictions
The end of 2018 was not a pleasant one for Yeovil Town as they ended the year without a win in a long time and their form on home soil was hardly anything to get their faithful excited. Unfortunately for Town, their fortunes did not get much better on New Years Day but they can bounce back this weekend when they welcome Bury to Huish Park.
Yeovil may not be in the same sort of trouble as they were a month ago, but their winless streak continues in League Two. They were thoroughly second best on New Years Day in a 4-1 defeat to in form Cheltenham Town, and that result means they have now gone nine league games without a win. The Glovers sit precariously close to the relegation zone at the moment. They are currently 21st in the table and have a three point cushion over Macclesfield in 23rd, but it’s a disappointing lack of progress from the side that finished 19th last term.
A close game was predicted when Mansfield Town and Bury locked horns on Boxing Day, and that’s just what the two clubs produced. The pair went in level at the half time break goalless as neither side were able to break down the other and score that all important first goal. A more open second half saw the Stags edge out their opposition with a 2-1 victory, but Bury rebuilt their damaged confidence by shutting out Notts County in a 0-0 draw. It was two results which will not set the pulse racing, but the fact that they outclassed Crewe Alexandra on New Years Day in a 3-1 victory shows just how important those building blocks put in place previously were.
The hosts have the worst home record in the division and they have managed just a single win on home soil this term. It is a record which is hard to ignore and when you factor in that Bury have an excellent record in the head to head between these two sides, then it is hard to imagine anything other than away win. With this in mind, we think that backing Bury to win is the way to go in this fixture.
