      Young Boys vs Lugano Predictions

Victory for Young Boys before the international break saw the Super League leaders increase their advantage at the top of the table to twenty-four points following Basel’s defeat to Thun. Lugano’s defeat at home to Luzern saw their guests move ahead of them in the table, and the visitors have now lost their last two Super League games.

St. Gallen took the lead in the thirteenth minute through Kutesa when they played host to Young Boys last time out, but it proved to be a false dawn for the home side as their guests scored three times before the half time whistle. Nsamé scored twice in the space of eight first half minutes to thrust Young Boys into a 2-1 lead, and Assalé made it 3-1 in the thirty-fourth minute. The visitors took their foot off the gas during the second forty-five and even though Sierro converted an eighty-sixth minute penalty to make it 3-2, Young Boys held on to secure all three points.

Veteran French forward Hoarau top scores in the league for Young Boys this season with ten goals to his name from twelve appearances, and the former PSG man looks likely to surpass his best ever seasons total for Young Boys, which stands at eighteen. With five league goals it’s Brazil’s Carlinhos who leads the way in front of goal for visitors Lugano this season, with teammates Bottani and Gerndt his nearest rivals on three goals apiece.

Carlinhos was on target for Lugano last time out, but the Brazilians side still ended up losing the game 4-1 at home to mid table rivals Luzern. A single goal from Vargas proved enough to hand the visitors a 1-0 half time lead at the Stadio di Cornaredo, and just two minutes after the restart Schneuwly put Luzern 2-0 up. When Vargas scored his second goal of the game to make it 3-0 to the visitors just after the hour mark it ended any hopes of a Lugano comeback. Even though Carlinhos pulled a goal back for the hosts in the seventy-second minute, three minutes later Eleke restored Luzern’s three goal advantage and the game.

Twenty-one points and six places separate Young Boys and their opponents Lugano in the Super League table, and with four wins from their last five matches it’s the hosts that head into the game as the clear form favourites. We’re confident that Young Boys will beat Lugano and have backed both teams to score in the process, with the final score ending 3-1. Young Boys have won four of their last six matches in all competitions, while Lugano have lost three of their last six matches in all competitions. Both teams have scored in four of Young Boys’ last six matches and the same can be said about each of Lugano’s last six matches. Three of the last four matches between the two clubs have seen both teams score, and were expecting that trend to continue this weekend.
