AFC Bournemouth To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

With Sheffield United floundering at both ends of the pitch, it is hard to see anything but a Bournemouth victory on Sunday. The Cherries ran out 3-1 winners in the reverse fixture – with this scoreline arguably flattering the Blades – and Andoni Iraola’s men should feel confident in registering back-to-back victories for the first time since December.

AFC Bournemouth 2-0

Reason for tip

With Bournemouth dispatching Sheffield United’s relegation rivals Burnley 2-0 last weekend, a repeat scoreline could be on the cards on Sunday. The Blades have won just once on the road all season and recent form does not point to a change in their fortunes any time soon.

AFC Bournemouth vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Bournemouth are yet to win at home in the league in 2024
  • The Blades have conceded 12 goals across their last three games
  • The Cherries took all three points in the reverse fixture in a 3-1 victory

Cherries can claim Vital victory

Bournemouth’s poor home form in 2024 has seen just one point taken from fixtures at the Vitality Stadium this calendar year but a first victory should be expected for Andoni Iraola’s men when they host bottom of the table Sheffield United.

In fairness, the Cherries have had a difficult start to the year on the south coast in facing the top two in the division, losing to both Liverpool and Manchester City.

The form of star striker Dominic Solanke has been pivotal to the club’s more than respectable 12th position, with the English forward netting 14 goals in the Premier League this season, putting him fourth in the league.

Sheffield United meanwhile have had a season to forget, with their abject defence being subject to heavy criticism on a number of occasions. The Blades have conceded 72 goals so far in the league and have picked up just one victory on the road all season – this coming at fellow relegation rivals Luton Town last month.

Their attacking numbers have not shown much more improvement, with just 22 converted strikes in the league. Solanke’s tally of 14 is higher than United’s top four goalscorers combined.

A 21st defeat of the season should be expected at the vitality and another blank up front looks a likely outcome for the Blades, who look like they have accepted their fate of relegation already.

Super Semenyo to score again

Although Solanke has rightly taken the plaudits for the Cherries this season, Antoine Semenyo might be the more worthwhile option in the goalscorer market.

The Ghanaian international has scored two of Bournemouth’s last four goals, including in their 2-0 victory over Burnley last time out, and another goal could be of vital importance in what could be a low scoring affair. Another 2-0 scoreline looks the most appealing given that the Cherries have drawn blanks in just one of their last six in the league.
