Reason For Derby vs Nottingham Forest Betting Tips

The three point lead fourth placed Derby County hold over local rivals Nottingham Forest could be wiped out this weekend if the visitors can pull off a win in the East Midlands derby. Forest occupy seventh place heading into the match and will be hoping to finish the evening in the play-of positions, but that will also depend on Middlesbrough and West Brom’s results. This is the 93rd East Midlands derby and were expecting a competitive match between two clubs with dreams of a return to the Premier League this season.

Derby County dominated Wigan Athletic last weekend, but only ran out 1-0 winners against their hosts, who spent the majority of the match with ten-men. Wigan’s Naismith was shown a straight red card after just fifteen minutes of the match, which automatically asserted control of the game to Derby County. It took just six minutes for Derby to take advantage of the situation they found themselves in as Marriott scored what turned out to be the games winning goal. The visitors should have comfortably won this game on the balance of play as Derby had 62% of the possession, six corners to the hosts one, and eleven shots during the ninety minutes, but Wigan defended manfully and will wonder what could of been had they had eleven men on the pitch.

Forest seven game unbeaten streak in the Championship came to an end last time out when they played host to mid table Preston North End. Nottingham Forest controlled the match for the most part, having 61% of the overall possession, but poor finishing ended up costing the hosts dearly. The pair went in goalless at the break, but eleven minutes in the second half Preston took the lead through striker Moult with one of the five shots they managed during the ninety minutes. Forest through everything at their guests, but were let down in the final third by their finishing, as well as some last ditch defending and good goalkeeping by their opponents.

The last time these two clubs went head to head the game ended goalless and the main talking point was the sending-off of Tom Huddlestone for a second bookable offence in the eighty-first minute. Forest had 54% of the possession in their own backyard, but failed to land a single one of their six shots on target. Derby had nine attempts and will probably feel they should have won the game, but after Huddlestone’s sending-off will have been satisfied with a point.

Derby County head into Monday’s game as the form favourites with four wins and two defeats from their last six matches, but Forest have only lost one of their last six and should prove a tough nut to crack having kept four clean sheets during that period. Wilson top scores in the league for the hosts with seven goals so far, while teammate Marriott is just one behind on six. Grabban has been in fantastic form for the visitors and is already into double figures and will be keen to add to his fourteen Championship goals in Monday night’s local derby.

We’re confident that Derby County will win on Monday, and have backed the final scoreline to read 2-1. Derby are unbeaten in their last five matches against Forest, picking up three wins and two draws. The hosts are in fine form with four wins and two defeats from their last six, but Forest have scored more and conceded fewer goals than their hosts in the league this season.

Head to Head

These two old rivals have locked horns ninety-two times over the yeas, and with 37 wins, 24 draws, and 31 defeats its Nottingham Forest who lead the head to head record.
