Draw and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

There are reasons to back both Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield and with these sides having racked up 11 league stalemates between them this term, a bet on a score draw could be the way to go.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in nine of the last ten meetings between these sides and goals should be on the cards on Merseyside with 2-2 a decent correct score selection.

Liverpool vs Manchester City Predictions

  • These clubs have drawn 11 games in the Premier League this season
  • Both teams have scored in nine of the last ten meetings between these sides
  • Both of these clubs have seen an average of 3.3 goals per game in the league
  • Erling Haaland has bagged 18 goals in the Premier League this term

Little separates Premier League juggernauts

Jurgen Klopp will square up against Pep Guardiola in the Premier League for the final time on Sunday when Liverpool take on Manchester City in a gargantuan clash in the context of the title race.

Heading into Sunday’s encounter at Anfield, just a point separates the Reds and City, who have both won 19 of their 27 league assignments.

Arsenal, who are on 61 points, complete the title-chasing trio and the battle for Premier League supremacy looks as though it could go down to the wire.

That said, with Liverpool on Sunday and Arsenal to come at the end of the month, Manchester City have the title race in their hands and look in a strong position with both Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne fit and firing again.

Reasons to back both sides on Merseyside

Klopp’s side, meanwhile, are without key personnel heading into this weekend’s fixture with Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Thiago, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Stefan Bajcetic all sidelined.

City should therefore sniff an opportunity, although Liverpool should at least welcome back talisman Mo Salah to the starting lineup after the Egyptian came off the bench in the club’s 5-1 thrashing of Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday.

And it is worth noting that Thursday’s victory was Liverpool’s seventh on the spin in all competitions.

At home, they have been especially reliable this season, winning 11 and drawing two of their 13 Premier League fixtures at Anfield, so even with Liverpool missing key personnel, the match result is no foregone conclusion.

As far as recent meetings go between these Premier League juggernauts, the last five encounters have produced two Liverpool wins, two Manchester City wins and a 1-1 draw back in November.

Only two of the last 30 league encounters between these sides have been won by the visitors, so backing City may not be the best approach.

Instead, a draw could be on the cards and punters should combine this with both teams to score for added value.

Expect high-octane affair at Anfield

The four meetings between the sides in the 2022-23 season produced a total of 15 goals and this should be another high-scoring matchup.

Both clubs have seen an average of 3.3 goals per game in the league this term and Liverpool have scored at least three goals in each of their last five home assignments.

Their attack may be curtailed more by City, though, and 2-2 represents a decent correct score pick.

Erling Haaland is Manchester City’s not-so-secret weapon and has hit a rich vein of form recently, scoring seven times in his last three matches.

There are a host of potential goalscorers in this match but Haaland looks the wisest pick to find the net.
