Manchester City vs Stoke Predictions

Manchester City slipped up yet again in midweek when they failed to pick up three points at the relegation threatened Newcastle. This throws their top four position into doubt yet again despite their excellent performance at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

They remain in a battle with their neighbours Manchester United for a top four position, but fortunately for them Arsenal have been dragged into it after some poor results. They now only need to out perform one of these two sides to secure Champions League football for the incoming Pep Guardiola.

Overall their form is looking fairly good. They are unbeaten in six matches in all competitions and have won four times, including an aggregate victory over Paris Saint Germain to see them through to the Champions League semi finals for the first time in their history.

The form of Sergio Aguero in the lead up to their midweek clash with Real Madrid will be a huge boost too, with the Argentine marksman netting four times in his last two appearances.

Stoke were on the hunt for their best ever finishing position in the Premier League recently, but spirits have been dampened at the Britannia Stadium by two very poor performances. They lost 4-1 against Liverpool last weekend and were hammered 4-0 by Spurs on Monday.

This defensive shambles will go down a treat in Manchester if it continues, and if Stoke put in another performance like that it could be an absolute rout for Sergio Aguero and company.

Stoke have now won just one of their last six matches in the Premier League, leaving them in 9th position and four points off Southampton above them. They have also conceded ten goals in their last three games.

The Etihad hasn’t exactly been short of goals this season either. 19 of Manchester City’s last 23 home matches in all competitions have seen at least three goals scored, and eight of Stoke’s last 11 away days have had a few goals in them too.

This makes odds of 8/13 for Over 2.5 Goals look very attractive, and I’m going to back a comfortable 3-1 win for Manchester City at 11/1 as well.
