PSV vs Roda JC Predictions

PSV saw their title hopes dashed at Feyenoord last weekend, as they fell 11 points off top spot. That result capped off a disappointing campaign so far for the Eredivisie champions, who seem to have easily surrendered their title. To make matters worse for Phillip Cocu’s men, that result has seen them slip six points off the final Champions League spot. The side from Eindhoven are already out of all other competitions, and their season could be about to unravel. They need to get back on track, especially with struggling Roda visiting on Saturday.

The visitors are sitting just outside of the relegation play-off places in the Eredivisie, so this should be a straightforward victory for the champions. PSV have managed to win 67% of their matches at the Philips Stadion this season, while Roda have claimed three points away from home just once this season. While the hosts are still going to be bruised from the setback they suffered on Sunday, this is the perfect chance for them to get things back on track.

The hosts kick off their push for second place against a Roda team who have failed to score in 67% of their away trips this season. The visitors have lost to nil in 42% of their league games so far. The Miners average just 0.63 goals per game this term, with 53% of their strikes coming at home. Given their poor record in front of goal, it’s no wonder that they’re sitting just outside the bottom three at this late stage of the season.

To make matters worse for Roda, they’re facing a PSV side who have conceded just eight times in 12 Eredivisie matches this term. The champions should keep that strong record intact, as the visitors are far from clinical. The Miners average 10 shots per game on their travels, but they score from just 5% of those attempts. The hosts face less than seven shots per game at the Philips Stadion, so it’s hard to see the away side getting enough opportunities to score.

Recent meetings between these two haven’t been kind to the Miners, as Roda have failed to score in their last three encounters with PSV. Given how well the hosts are playing at the back, limiting chances and keeping a clean sheet in 50% of their home games, this should be a fourth blank for the struggling side. The champions have won six of their seven league matches in 2017, and we’re backing them to win to nil at 4/6 with bet365.
