      West Ham vs Sunderland Predictions

West Ham have enjoyed a very successful season in the Premier League so far, with numerous famous away results helping them towards a 7th place position. They are only a point adrift of Manchester United in 5th and will be feeling fairly confident in their ability to qualify for a continental competitions next season. It won’t be easy with the likes of Southampton, Liverpool, and Manchester United to contend with, but they have as good a chance as any of them at the moment. West Ham have made their mark this season by being incredibly difficult to beat, and only the top three in the Premier League have lost fewer times than them.

At the other end of the scale, only Aston Villa have lost more matches this season than Sunderland, who have succumbed to defeat in 15 of their 26 matches. This obviously leaves them in trouble at the bottom of the table, but a win against West Ham on Saturday could see them move out of the relegation zone should Norwich and Newcastle both lose.

      Reasons for Betting Tips

West Ham have the 5th best scoring record in the Premier League this season, with only the top four in the table surpassing their 40 goal total. The Hammers will be confident of adding a few to this tally on Saturday as well, because they are coming up against the joint worst defensive outfit in the league. Sunderland have conceded a huge 50 goals in their 26 Premier League games this season, and away from home they have averaged nearly three goals conceded per game.

Eight of West Ham’s last 12 matches in all competitions have seen them net more than once, while Sunderland have conceded two or more goals in each of their last seven away days in all competitions. Add to this Dimitri Payet’s exceptional performance against Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup and the fact that Sunderland could be without a few key defenders and it seems very likely that West Ham will bag a few goals.

      Statistics

West Ham have averaged 1.67 goals per game on home turf this season, with Sunderland shipping an average of 2.77 goals per game on the road.

      Team News

West Ham – Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia are likely to miss out for West Ham. Joey O’Brien, Diafra Sakho, James Tomkins, and Carl Jenkinson are also sidelines.

Sunderland – Duncan Watmore remains sidelined for the visitors along with star player Jeremain Lens. They will be hoping to welcome back the likes of Jan Kirchhoff, Younes Kaboul, and Seb Larsson though.
