The Netherlands and Japan are among a group of nations who could be considered World Cup 2026 dark horses and their clash on Sunday offers a chance to judge just how far these respective sides could go in North America.
As always, we’ve got the game covered in our dedicated Match Predictions section and now I’ve put together this 42/1 Bet Builder tip using Paddy Power.
Netherlands vs Japan Ultimate World Cup Bet Builder
Ryan Gravenberch To Have 2+ Shots
Netherlands midfielder Ryan Gravenberch ended the Premier League season with six shots across his final four games for Liverpool, and he also had two shots in two of his final three World Cup qualifiers with the Netherlands. Japan are a strong defensive unit and the Dutch may be forced into taking a few shots from range, 80% of Gravenbach’s attempts for Liverpool came from outside the area so two or more shots for the midfielder looks an achievable target.
Ayase Ueda To Have 1+ Shots On Target (including woodwork)
Japan forward Ayase Ueda averaged an impressive 3.3 shots per-game in the Eredivisie with PSV last season and 1.5 per-game on target, finishing as the competition’s top scorer. He has 16 goals in 39 appearances for his country and can at least test the Oranje keeper.
Daichi Kamada To Be Fouled 2+ Times
Daichi Kamada was fouled on average exactly once per-game in the Premier League for Crystal Palace last season, while he was fouled multiple times in three of his final six league games for the Eagles.
Denzel Dumfries To Be Fouled 2+ Times
Denzel Dumfries was fouled more than once in two of his final three Serie A appearances last season, while he was fouled on averaged once per-game in the Champions League. The Inter Milan full-back has the pace to cause problems for Japan when he does get forward and could be on the receiving end of a couple of infringements on Sunday.
