Ryder Cup 2025: 6 Selections with 12/1 and 9/1 tips

The Ryder Cup starts at Bethpage Black, New York, on Friday, and Racing & Football Outlook Golf Expert Joe Champion has six tips across various markets for the big match between USA and Europe.
Eight of the last nine Ryder Cups have been won by the hosts, and European captain Luke Donald will be under no illusions as to the task facing his team, but who better to attempt to mastermind an away win than a member of Jose Maria Olazabal’s team that pulled off the Miracle at Medinah in 2012?
Ryder Cup Outright & Correct-Score Selections
Europe to win the Ryder Cup at 17/10 with bet365
Europe to win 15-13 at 12/1 with bet365
Europe to win 14.5-13.5 at 12/1 with bet365
USA ran out dominant 19-9 winners in the last Stateside Ryder Cup in 2021, but there is not much between the teams this time around, and the outcome could be very different come Sunday in New York.
US captain Keegan Bradley can count on the world’s best golfer, Scottie Scheffler, in addition to seven other members of the world’s top 11, but it’s up for debate as to whether this squad is truly as strong as the team that trounced Europe on home soil four years ago.
Luke Donald’s European team looks equally as capable, and a long, challenging course like Bethpage won’t pose too many fears for a group of players with skillsets that have, by and large, been honed on similar PGA Tour courses.
Where once the Europeans tended to have a driving disadvantage, the current star names including Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg and Viktor Hovland are all suited to the demands of Bethpage.
Tyrrell Hatton and Shane Lowry, while shorter hitters, remain dogged competitors who have thrived in the Ryder Cup environment, Robert MacIntyre is better than ever, and Justin Rose brings huge experience to the team.
Perhaps most important, however, is Europe’s continuity – Donald returns after a successful stint as captain in Rome, and his squad contains 11 of the 12 members of the 2023 team, with only Rasmus Hojgaard coming in to replace twin brother Nicolai.
While there have been a few headaches to grapple with, Europe look a well prepared, settled side with as good a chance as they’ve had for a long time to win an away Ryder Cup.
Only McIlroy and Rose, members of the 2012 squad alongside Donald, have won on US soil. They will be aware of the enormity of the task facing them, but that experience also stands them in good stead.
This has the potential to be the most competitive Ryder Cup in more than a decade and a wide-margin win in either direction looks unlikely. The best correct-score options could be to take Europe to win by either a 15–13 or 14.5–13.5 scoreline.
Ryder Cup Top Points Scorer Selections
Tyrrell Hatton Top European Points Scorer at 9/1 with bet365
McIlroy, Rahm and Fleetwood dominate the top European points scorer market, but it’s Hatton who looks the best each-way option in that market as he prepares for his fourth Ryder Cup appearance.
The tenacious Englishman has always looked like a Ryder Cup star in waiting, and he’s improved for every appearance, winning one point in Paris in 2018, 1.5 points at Whistling Straits and 3.5 in the win in Rome.
Crucially, he is a regular partner for Rahm. The pair combined for two foursomes points at Marco Simone in 2023, and Donald will not hesitate in keeping the LIV Golf teammates together.
Scottie Scheffler Top American Points Scorer at 11/4 with bet365
In the top American market, it’s impossible to get away from Scheffler, who won his latest title at the Procore Championship last time out and looks booked to compete in each session as long as he is fit and healthy.
While Scheffler struggled in Rome, he showcased his potential in claiming 2.5 points from three matches as a Ryder Cup rookie in his sole home appearance, and he was a key member of the US team at the Presidents Cup last year, winning three points from five matches.
With Xander Schauffele undercooked, and powerhouses Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau without confirmed partners, Bradley will hope his top dog can deliver the goods.
Russell Henley Top Rookie Points Scorer at 15/8 with bet365
If Scheffler top scores for the US, there is a decent chance that likely partner Russell Henley will claim the top rookie honours.
That hasn’t escaped the bookies’ attention, but he looks a worthy favourite having claimed three points from four matches at last year’s Presidents Cup. The world no.3 remains an underrated player.
