Our accumulator started in Brazil, where we required both teams to find the net in Corinthians vs Cruzeiro. There were no goals in the first 30 minutes of the fixture, but we were then rewarded with 2 goals in the next 10! An opening goal from Corinthians through right-back Fagner was then countered by a penalty to the opposition – swiftly converted and the first leg of our accumulator was in!
The next fixture then comes from the MLS, where we were again gifted with a fairly early first goal from the hosts – Toronto FC. DC United needed an equaliser to send the fixture to extra-time, which seemed less and less likely as the game progressed. However, in the dying seconds of the game, Rodriguez found an equaliser for DC United in the 93rd minute, and the second both teams to score leg of our accumulator landed.
Staying with the MLS, the third leg of our accumulator required Real Salt Lake to be victorious over Portland Timbers. The home side took the lead through Kreilach in the 28th minute, and took that lead into half-time. However shortly after the break, Portland found an equaliser and it was game on. A tense half followed, but our faith was rewarded in the 87th minute when Savarino found a winner for Real Salt Lake. Our accumulator was onto its final leg!
The final leg of our accumulator didn’t kick-off until 6am UK time, and featured Melbourne City vs Adelaide United. Our bet was for both teams to score, and the hosts were provided with a great start through MacLaren, who found the net twice in 4 minutes mid-way through the first half. Melbourne was very much on top, but after half-time Adelaide were starting to create some chances. In the 67th minute, McGree found the net for Adelaide and LANDED OUR 13/1 ACCUMULATOR!
