While the start of the Olympics golf competition takes centre stage this week there is still European Tour action and Steve Palmer is back to provide all his expertise ahead of the ISPS Handa World Invitational.

Many of the 144-strong field have plenty of experience at the Galgorm Castle course in County Antrim and savvy punters are advised to steer clear of the favourites in the market.

Read on for Steve’s 28/1 and 40/1 tips for this week!

ISPS Handa World Invitational course guide and where to watch

Course: Galgorm Castle and Massareene, County Antrim, Northern Ireland

Par: Par-70 for both

Where to watch: Sky Sports Golf from 2pm on Thursday

ISPS Handa World Invitational winner prediction: Vincent Normal at 28/1

Andy Sullivan and Justin Harding dominate the betting for the ISPS HANDA World Invitational this week – a low-key European Tour gathering in Northern Ireland – but punters should probably not be rushing to take the short odds about the Englishman and the South African.

Sullivan is better suited to easy courses – on which his typically excellent putting counts for more – but the two tracks being used for the ISPS HANDA are tight, tree-lined and full of juicy rough.

Galgorm Castle and Massereene could upset favourite Sullivan, while Harding may struggle to get over what happened last Sunday – carding a bogey six at the first extra hole to lose a Cazoo Open playoff to Nacho Elvira.

Preference at bigger odds is for Vincent Norrman and Maverick Antcliff. Norrman, a former Stateside college star who rose to fourth in the world amateur rankings, has made a barnstorming start to his professional career.

Fifth place in the BMW International Open – in which he carded a hole-in-one at a par-four – was followed by him contending for a long way in the Cazoo Open last week.

Norrman opened the event at Celtic Manor with a 64 and closed with a 66 for a share of tenth place. Had he not taken ten shots at the 18th hole in round three – a cardbuster of disastrous proportions – the Swedish youngster would have been even more prominent on the leaderboard.

ISPS Handa World Invitational outsider prediction: Maverick Antcliff at 40/1

Antcliff is an accurate Australian who has already shown a liking for one of the two courses being employed this week.

He was third in last year’s Irish Open, which was staged at Galgorm Castle, and his straight hitting allows him to avoid the penal rough there.

Antcliff, a three-time champion on the China Tour, is looking increasingly comfortable on the European circuit.
