The European Tour heads to Jumeirah Golf Estates this week for the AVIV Dubai Championship and the PGA Tour action comes from the Houston Open.

Our golf expert Steve Palmer is back with a winners double ahead of the two events and you can see his selections below, and don’t forget to check out our dedicated Golf Tips and the rest of our Sports Tips too!

Dubai Championship & Houston Open Winners Double

Abraham Ancer finished seventh (World Wide Technology Championship) and Min Woo Lee was eighth (Portugal Masters) when we were chasing a 493/1 double last week – close but no cigar – and the same odds can be taken this week about a similar scenario.

Punters must be aware that many bookmakers offer amazing each-way terms these days – seven, eight, and even ten, places are available for regulation events – so each-way doubles have the potential to pay out handsomely just for the place part of the investment.

Ancer is taking the week off and is not part of this week’s plan, but faith should be kept with Min Woo Lee, who closed with a 66 in Portugal on Sunday and can be expected to play a significant role in the Dubai Championship.

The low-grade event starts at 3am UK and Ireland time on Thursday morning – and Lee can make a fast start. The sweet-swinging Australian youngster needs a strong end to his European Tour campaign to get into the top 50 of the world rankings before the end of the year.

He finished fourth in the 2019 Saudi International to show an immediate liking for desert golf and his ability to perform well in the wind stands him in great stead for the Fire Course.

Breezes are forecast for every afternoon of the tournament and Lee, who grew up in windy Perth and developed an array of shots to combat difficult weather, can thrive.

The 25/1 chance can be paired with 18/1 poke Scottie Scheffler in a 493/1 double. Scheffler is seeking a PGA Tour breakthrough in his home state of Texas – and he should go extremely close on the evidence of his fourth-place finish in Mexico last week. Scheffler’s iron-play and scrambling was superb – and he can contend at Memorial Park this week if he carries that form home.
