608/1 Winners double for Australian PGA Championship & Sony Open

The Australian PGA Championship and Sony Open take place this week and we’ve got a 608/1 winners double for the two events.

Racing Post golf expert Steve Palmer came up with the goods last week with an each-way winner at the Tournament of Champions thanks to Patrick Cantlay’s fourth place, and after tipping a huge 58,994/1 four-fold covering this year’s Majors earlier this week he’s back with a double for the events in Queensland and Hawaii, which he recommends backing once again as an each-way double.

You can see his selections below, and don’t forget to check out our dedicated Golf Tips and the rest of our Sports Tips too!

Australian PGA Championship & Sony Open Winners Double

There are two golf tournaments for punters to sink their teeth into this week – the Australian PGA Championship and the Sony Open – and that provides the opportunity for the first each-way double of the year.

Golf outright doubles are a chance to win big from a small stake – and this week our recommended double pays out at 608-1.

The first event to start is the Aussie PGA – 8.15pm UK and Ireland time tonight – and the wonderfully named Elvis Smylie is good enough to do plenty of damage.

Smylie is only 19 years of age and he had some back problems at the end of last summer, but the giant left-hander should come out fit and firing for 2022, before going on to become one of the best players in the game.

Smylie is widely regarded in Australia as one of the most promising youngsters the country has ever seen – he has been such a force in junior golf – and last year he twice finished second on the Australasian Tour.

The Queenslander knows this week’s Royal Queensland venue well and he has the course designer – Mike Clayton – caddying for him.

The PGA Tour has stayed in Hawaii for the Sony Open – starting 5pm on Thursday – and Australian success can continue there.

Cameron Smith won the Sentry Tournament of Champions on Sunday, and this week may be the turn of his great pal Marc Leishman to shine in the Sony.

Leishman has been in superb form and has a rock-solid Sony record, which includes three top-five finishes.

Combining Smylie at 28-1 with Leishman at 20-1 creates a 608-1 double. Doing the double each-way means you still get a healthy return if they both finish in the places.
