In a Premier League gameweek somewhat lacking in eye-catching marquee fixtures, Liverpool’s trip to St James’ Park stands out as the perfect way to end the weekend.

Newcastle, backed by their Saudi Arabian owners, worked their way into the Premier League top four last season at the expense of an underperforming Liverpool, but Jurgen Klopp’s side are hoping to bounce back this season and a win over the Magpies would lay down a marker.

With Sunday’s game in mind, I’ve put together a massive Bet Builder for the action, and you can also take a look at our full Newcastle vs Liverpool prediction here.

Alexander Isak to score anytime at 7/5

Alexander Isak has emerged as Eddie Howe’s first-choice striker for Newcastle and repaid the faith shown in him with a brace against Aston Villa in gameweek one.

The young Swede scored ten Premier League goals in his first season at St James’ Park, including one at Anfield last August. He can punish a Liverpool defence that have looked shaky at the back so far.

Trent Alexander-Arnold to have 1+ shots on target at 11/4

With the usual attacking suspects coming in at incredibly short prices, Trent Alexander-Arnold represents huge value in the shots market after a promising start to the season.

He is one of four Liverpool players to have had two shots on target this season and ended last season on the front foot. He has had at least one shot on target in five of his last seven appearances for the Reds, totalling 14 attempts on goal during this period.

Bruno Guimaraes to be shown a card at 23/10

Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali have been booked in both Premier League games so far this season but it’s the Brazilian who looks most likely to get cautioned again.

He was carded seven times in the Premier League last season and, following his cards this term, has now been booked in five of his last six appearances for the Magpies, committing ten fouls in this sequence.

Cody Gakpo to commit 2+ fouls at 4/6

He may not be the most obvious of choices, but Jurgen Klopp’s intense high-pressing game generally leads to their forwards getting on the wrong side of the referee and Cody Gakpo is no exception.

The Dutchman has committed four fouls in his first two games this season and only two Liverpool players were reprimanded more than him last season, despite him only arriving at Anfield in January. He has committed two or more fouls in four of his last eight games for club and country and has committed at least one in seven of those.
