Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

With Europe’s top leagues back there’s a huge slate of football to enjoy, making it tough to choose exactly who to back. Luckily we’ve called in three Racing Post tipsters to join us to create a 18/1 Experts’ Accumulator.

You can see that fourfold below, alongside all five of our best bets for Sunday’s action.

Espanyol vs Atletico Madrid – Atletico Madrid to win at 10/11

Atletico Madrid have won five of their last six La Liga games and I’m backing them to bounce back from a 2-2 draw with Europa League winners Villarreal.

Espanyol are a far easier side for Diego Simeone’s men, as they’ve failed to score in all three La Liga games this term. Atletico have won three of their last four league trips, while the hosts have gone eight games without a goal in the top-flight.

Nantes vs Nice – Nice to win at 5/4

Nice have made an excellent start to the season in Ligue 1 and are yet to concede in three completed games.  They probably would be three points better off now too had their game against Marseille not been abandoned due to crowd trouble late on, with Nice leading 1-0 at the time.

Nantes only avoided the drop by virtue of the away goals rule in the relegation play-off last season and after a fairly bright start have started to struggle again.  The Canaries have lost their last two games without scoring, and this Nice side who have scored eight goals in their last two games can extend that losing streak.

Nottingham Forest vs Cardiff – Cardiff to win at 13/8

Cardiff had gone ten Championship games unbeaten before a 2-1 loss to Bristol City and they can return to winning ways by defeating Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Mick McCarthy arrived at Cardiff in January and has led them to 12 league wins, 11 draws and just four defeats.

His team are unbeaten on their last five road trips and should not be too fearful of Forest, who have taken one point from a possible 15.

Forest manager Chris Hughton is clinging onto his job but the supporters are growing restless and a nervous atmosphere could work against the home side.

Montpellier vs St Etienne – Over 2.5 Goals at 8/11

Goals have been a common theme in the Ligue 1 matches of Montpellier this season and the trend should continue at home to St Etienne.

There have been 18 goals scored across Montpellier’s first four fixtures, with both teams finding the net on every occasion.

The net has also bulged at both ends in St Etienne’s opening four fixtures and with two shaky defences on show, backing the contest to feature at least three goals makes plenty of appeal.

Leeds vs Liverpool – Harvey Elliot to make an assist at 7/2

Harvey Elliott has played his way into Liverpool’s first team and with other midfielders unavailable looks likely to feature in this game against Leeds.

The youngster notched 11 assists in his time on loan at Blackburn last season and can turn provider for his parent club in a game which always seems to see goals.

Leeds have already shipped eight this season and these two sides played out a 4-3 Liverpool win on the opening day of last season.
