Man City to win
Tottenham have lost all their meetings with the current top four this term, a terrible return in key games which could cost them a Champions League place. The hosts haven’t exactly made their ground a fortress this term, having lost four of their five toughest home league games based on the standings.
Meanwhile, Man City have won three straight coming into this one and they should make short work of Spurs, especially with the added motivation of closing the gap to Arsenal. Pep Guardiola doesn’t have the best record at this ground, but with a superior side and Antonio Conte missing on the touchline, look to the visitors to take the points.
Riyad Mahrez to score
Erling Haaland may be the main man in the City attack, but Riyad Mahrez is a man who shows up on the big occasions for City. The Algerian also loves facing Tottenham, having had a hand in 11 goals against them during his time in the Premier League. That record includes the two goals he scored when the pair met last month, so look to him to get a goal in another City victory.
Cristian Romero to be carded
Romero has been no stranger to the referee’s notebook this term but he’s made an even bigger impression of late, with a string of bookings dating back to his time in Qatar. The defender picked up two yellows on the way to winning the World Cup and he continued in that vein with his club side.
Romero has now been booked in six of his last eight appearances for club and country and he has five Premier League yellows to his name so far. He has been booked in three home league games this term and he’s been carded in five of his last six appearances for Spurs, so back him for another card in this clash.
Rodri to be carded
On the City side, Rodri stands out as the main contender for a card. The midfielder has been booked on three occasions in the Premier League this term, while he’s been booked across all four competitions the Citizens have played in this term.
The Spaniard averages 1.4 fouls per away game this season and two of his three league bookings have come on the road. Look to him to pick up another card in this visit to London, following a run of four cautions in his last nine starts.
Emerson Royal 1+ shots
Pedro Porro is set to take the starting spot at right-back for Spurs but Emerson Royal is set for another start as Porro readies himself for a Premier League debut. Emerson has made an impact going forward of late and he’s chipped in with 21 shots across all competitions this term. Six of those shots have come in his last four appearances, with the full-back scoring at the Etihad last month.
Royal has had 12 shots in 13 Premier League starts this season and he should be a threat against a City side who are searching for a solution at left-back. Having seen Joao Cancelo and Oleksandr Zinchenko depart this term, City are vulnerable on that flank and the Spurs’ man can make an impact on that side.
