Ian Wilkerson tips huge 493/1 each-way double for this week's golf!

We are only a week away from the second Major of the season and golf’s leading lights have one eye on the US PGA Championship, which will take place at Southern Hills.

However, there is still the chance to get a confidence boost before that examination, and many of the game’s elite will be lining up at the AT&T Byron Nelson this week, including Masters champion and world number one Scottie Scheffler.

There is also action on the DP World Tour as a field will assemble in Belgium to do battle in the Soudal Open, where home favourite Thomas Pieters and Bernd Wiesberger head the market.

Racing Post tipster Ian Wilkerson has selections for both tournaments, which can be backed as a 493/1 each-way double or as individual bets.

493/1 each-way golf double

If you fancy a 565/1 golf double this week then you are pointed to a 545/1 double with last year’s AT&T Byron Nelson runner-up Sam Burns going one better at TPC Craig Ranch, where he is a 18/1 chance.

In the other event, Spain’s Adrian Otaegui could be the one who takes all the beating, having won at Rinkven International three years ago when the course hosted the Belgian Knockout. He can be backed at 25/1.

AT&T Byron Nelson winner prediction – Sam Burns at 18/1

Sam Burns was second in this tournament last year when he finished three shots behind South Korea’s Kyoung-Hun Lee but he can definitely go one better this time.

Burns has won three PGA Tour titles in little over a year and was in fine form when finishing second in a pairs event alongside Billy Horschel at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last time out.

This week’s Zoyria fairways should be much to his liking, as they were when he reached a playoff at the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational last year and all the ingredients are there for a bold show.

Soudal Open winner prediction – Adrian Otaegui at 25/1

There is not a huge degree of depth to the field at the Soudal Open and Adrian Otaegui can take advantage, particularly as he is a course winner at Rinkven International.

His Belgian Knockout triumph in 2018 was in a half-stroke play, half-match play format, but there has been enough from his 2022 showings to suggest he can make a strong challenge.

The Spaniard has been third in the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, fifth at the Qatar Masters and second at the ISPS Handa Championship, so is likely to be competitive in the sort of company he faces this week.
