The Serie A title might be wrapped up, but that doesn’t take the shine off the weekend’s headline clash. The Derby d’Italia means more than just three points towards their season’s aim. These two old rivals are playing for pride at San Siro on Saturday night. This clash also offers a huge chance to change the perception of each side.

Inter Milan want to show that the gap between themselves and Juve is closing. Meanwhile, the visitors are responding to the most downbeat title success in memory. There’s already little regard for the class of 2019 in Turin, but could a victory at Inter boost their standing? It would certainly be a positive message to send out, as Max Allegri’s side try to finish the season on a strong note.

Key Battles at San Siro

Inter Milan in Champions League action

Juventus are 20 points clear in Serie A, but their failure to win the Coppa Italia and Champions League is a much bigger story in Turin. An eighth straight title was overshadowed by focus on failure elsewhere. That’s stirred up stories of major transfer signings for Juve, while Inter are also targeting big arrivals this summer.

We expect both sides to be up for this high-pressure game. The problem for the visitors is that they’ve been conceding too many goals of late, losing their high standards at the back. As Inter try to move on up front without Mauro Icardi, scoring against the champions would be a big bonus for the Nerazzurri. Of course, that’s something we have backed them to do in our match preview.

There’s also the issue of big names trying to prove themselves here. Not only is Cristiano Ronaldo out to finish his first season in Italy with a scoring streak, but Inter’s Radja Nainggolan could do with a strong display here. He’s had an up and down campaign, but the number 10 could make everyone forget that with a star turn against Juve.

Inter vs Juventus Multi

Joaquin Correa Leonardo Bonucci Serie A

With a game this big, it seems perfect for a same-game multi bet. Instead of throwing a single on this clash into an accumulator, why not pick out a couple of well-priced selections on this game? Betfair are offering some decent prices on this clash, which could keep you interested in every kick and tackle in Milan.

A good place to start is with our match preview tip. We’ve gone with both teams to score in this clash, and you can see our detailed reasoning for that pick here. In short, Juve are looking wobbly at the back but they maintain an attacking threat, so we see great value in going with BTTS. It’s a good starting point for a same-game multi, while we’re adding to that by backing a fiery clash between these two sides.

Another good pick to consider here is over 50 booking points. It’s pretty easy to get to terms with booking points: a yellow card is worth 10 points, a red is worth 25. A player who is sent off for two yellows ends up with 35 points in total. We think it’s worth backing over 50 points here – i.e. more than five yellows – given the history between the pair. They’ve seen 43 yellows and three reds across their last six meetings.

Chief among those bookings have been Miralem Pjanic of Juventus and Inter’s Marcelo Brozovic. The pair operate deep in midfield, requiring them to get involved with the defensive side of things. This season, Pjanic has been booked a total of six times, while Brozovic has 10 yellows to his name. On top of that, both Pjanic and Brozovic were booked in the previous two meetings between these sides. When you add those two to be carded in with over 50 booking points and BTTS, you get a bet that hits 28/1 with Betfair.

Inter vs Juventus Betting Specials

AC Milan vs Inter Milan

Given that this is one of the biggest games in Europe this weekend, it’s no surprise that there are some decent specials on this one. BetVictor have priced up a long list of options on their site, ranging massively in price. They start with a tempting 6/4 option, which is over 1.5 goals and over 1.5 cards for each side.

If you’re looking for something slightly longer, then there’s a 42/1 shot which points to an exciting clash. Over 11.5 total corners, Ronaldo to be carded, over 6.5 cards and both teams to score is one option under their PriceItUp banner. On top of that, you can customise the bet to ramp up the odds or tweak the selections, giving you another option for a long-odds bet on Saturday night’s clash.

Finally, bet365 are offering 8/1 on Inter Milan to score from the spot, and 9/1 on Juve to convert a penalty. Massive games like this occasionally need a set piece or a spot kick to make a huge difference. On top of that, these two sides are in the top three in terms of penalties scored in Serie A this season. With Ivan Perisic improving his form, Inter’s price to score from the penalty spot is certainly worth considering.
