Premier League Team Guides: Fulham

Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

Season review

It was another solid, if unspectacular, season for Marco Silva’s Fulham, with the Portuguese manager guiding the Cottagers to the mid-table finish that many expected at the start of the campaign.

The West London club have finished between tenth and 13th in each of their three Premier League seasons under Silva, with their final points tally in each season within a seven-point range, and their total goals difference across all three campaigns being +4.

Silva has certainly turned the yo-yo Cottagers into a reliable mid-table performer, but there is no clear roadmap to take them to the next level, and their inconsistency last term was infuriating at times.

They dropped a joint-high 28 points from winning positions in the Premier League last season, and now their managerial situation has been thrown into doubt amid interest in Marco Silva from Tottenham, Juventus, and Al-Hilal.

Transfer window preview

A windfall in excess of £40 million for Joao Palhinha allowed Fulham to strengthen across a number of areas last season, with Emile Smith Rowe, Joachim Andersen, and Sander Berge signing for the Cottagers.

Their plans this summer will largely depend on whether Marco Silva remains at his post or not, but the Portuguese boss is thought to be prioritising another striker to compete with Rodrigo Muniz and the ageing Raul Jimenez, with Ricardo Pepi a potential addition to the list of number nines.

Elsewhere, a right-back will be needed if Kenny Tete leaves when his contract expires in July, and a new winger may be on the shopping list if Reiss Nelson returns to Arsenal and the 36-year-old Willian leaves the club.

Rayan Cherki has been touted as a possible target, but the youngster had a tremendous season for Lyon and is unlikely to be within budget for Fulham, while Besiktas winger Rafa Silva is another potential transfer target.
