Rivals Weekend: 79/1 Bookings Accumulator for 5 fierce clashes!

Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.

This weekend is packed with intense games, featuring some huge derbies and the renewal of some long-running rivalries. The Premier League, Serie A, Primeira Liga and Scottish Premiership are among the competitions featuring some vintage games, so we’ve decided to focus on the feistier side of those meetings.

Below is a 79/1 fivefold backing a player to pick up a card from five of the weekend’s most intense clashes between bitter rivals. This tip has been picked out with Betfair, who are offering new customers up to £50 in free bets!

Rivals Weekend Bookings Accumulator

Roma vs Lazio

Bryan Cristante to be carded

Bryan Cristante has been a regular in the notebook this term, picking up eight bookings in Serie A already. Ahead of a fiery clash with Lazio, the midfielder looks like a strong candidate for another card.

Cristante was booked when these two sides met in the Coppa Italia earlier this year. He has three cautions across his last six meetings with Lazio, while he was sent off when these two met in 2023.

Sporting vs Benfica

Nicolas Otamendi to be carded

Ahead of the Lisbon derby, former Man City defender Nicolas Otamendi has picked up eight Primeira Liga bookings this term. He was sent off in Benfica’s recent 5-0 thumping at Porto, while he was shown a yellow in Benfica’s 2-1 defeat at city rivals Sporting in the cup back in February.

That was the sixth time in which Otamendi has been booked against with Sporting. He had his name taken just five minutes into the first meeting between the pair last term and he is worth backing for another caution in Saturday’s decisive clash at the top of the table.

Rangers vs Celtic

Connor Goldson to be carded

Goldson has five Old Firm bookings in his career, including one in Rangers’ 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park in December. The defender has the most bookings of any player across both teams this term, with seven Premiership cautions.

The 31-year-old has been booked 11 times in all competitions this term, so back him to receive another yellow amid an intense Ibrox atmosphere.

Man United vs Liverpool

Bruno Fernandes to be carded

Bruno Fernandes has eight Premier League bookings this season, with six of those coming at Old Trafford. The midfielder has been booked 11 times for the Red Devils in total this term, picking up a card when these two sides met in the FA Cup last month.

The Portuguese has been booked in four of his last five meetings with Liverpool, including three straight encounters at Old Trafford. He missed the reverse fixture due to accumulating five yellows, so he’s a prime candidate for a card this weekend.

Juventus vs Fiorentina

Luca Ranieri to be carded

24-year-old Ranieri hasn’t had many meetings with Fiorentina’s bitter rivals Juventus, but the defender has been very booking-prone in Serie A this season. He’s been carded 11 times in just 19 league appearances.

That includes a card in the reverse clash between these two, when Juve won 1-0 in Florence. That was just his second meeting with Juve for la Viola. With 28 cards being shared by these two across their last six meetings, Ranieri stands out to be carded in a fiery clash.
