Scottish Premiership outright winner odds

  • Celtic – 8/11
  • Rangers – 1/1
  • Hearts – 80/1
  • Aberdeen – 100/1
  • Hibernian – 150/1

Scottish Premiership winner prediction – Celtic at 8/11

Celtic finished seven points clear of rivals Rangers last season, but the Bhoys have undergone a summer of considerable change with treble-winning manager Ange Postecoglou departing and former boss Brendan Rodgers returning to the dugout.

There are likely to be significant changes on the pitch, too, with star winger Jota departing for Saudi Arabia.

However, the Hoops will likely receive a significant windfall from any departures and can also draw on guaranteed Champions League income, so they should be able to reinvest heavily.

Rangers are another side who will be experiencing a squad overhaul with star names Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Alan McGregor all having left at the end of their contracts.

Jack Butland, Kieran Dowell and Sam Lammers have arrived at Ibrox but Rangers’ failure to gain a fee for some of their departing cohort is a disadvantage as they seek to bridge the gap to their Glasgow rivals.

Celtic may take some time to adapt to Rodgers’ return but their financial advantage over the other sides in the division could prove crucial, particularly if they are embroiled in a close run battle with the Gers come the turn of the year.

Two defeats in their last five games of the 2022-23 season disguised just how comfortable Celtic’s title success was last term and if they reinvest well they should repeat the trick.

Michael Beale will benefit from a full summer to work with his Gers squad after taking over in November, but it’s hard to see the Light Blues getting close to their Old Firm rivals given their squad is in such a state of flux.

Aberdeen finished third last term despite a poor start, and the arrival of Liverpool pair Rhys Williams and Leighton Clarkson means it’s easy to make a case for them being best of the rest again.

Scottish Premiership relegation prediction – Ross County

At the other end of the table, Ross County survived the relegation playoff in dramatic fashion last season – but they may not be as lucky this time around.

The Staggies have lost defender Alex Iacovitti and midfielder David Cancola, and only Livingston scored fewer goals than Ross in the league last season.

The permanent signing of Eamonn Brophy will help on that front, but on the whole County’s squad looks weak and Malky Mackay may struggle to pull off another great escape.
