10th Sept - Mariners vs Rangers

The Texas Rangers have put together a good run of form and they are hunting down the Houston Astros for the AL West division title lead. After a 6-0 beating on Wednesday night, they are hoping to avoid their first back-to-back losses for two weeks.

They’ve got Derek Holland on the mound tonight. The starter missed the first three months of the season, but has been more than good since going 3-0 with a 2.15 ERA in four starts.

He’ll need to continue his strong run of form tonight as he comes up against Seattle’s Felix Hernandez. The ace is 16-8 with a 3.65 ERA on the season and he’s been in good form both at home and against the Rangers so far this season. He was excellent in his most recent start against Oakland too, though he has yielded a few home runs of late. Not such an issue in Seattle.

We don’t like to bet against Felix Hernandez playing at home against an opponent that he knows and we would strongly advise that you don’t stack your money up against him either.

2. Mariners’ form

They’re not really in the running for the playoffs, though a Wildcard place isn’t completely impossible. However, the Mariners have quietly won five of their last seven and are hitting the ball well.

3. Pitching duel in Seattle

Seattle’s ball park has never been known as a run-haven and we think two quality pitchers will keep this low-scoring this time around.
