Hosts looking to rain on Melbourne’s parade

Adelaide United finished fifth last season at got the new campaign underway with a 1-1 draw at Perth Glory having scored first. Seven of their 11 wins last term came at home and they will be hoping for a repeat of their 2-0 win over Melbourne in this fixture in the previous campaign.

They have lost just one of their last 10 games at home but managed to win just one of their last five and I see them falling short here.

Melbourne on the march

After clinching their first A-League title, the visitors are aiming for back-to-back titles. Their defence began with three points at home to Brisbane Roar. Despite defeat in Adelaide last season, City will be confident having won the last meeting 4-1 back in May.

Just 18 of Melbourne’s 49 Championship clinching points were attained at home but Melbourne come into this fixture off the back of successive wins having defeated South Melbourne in their last away game on November 12th.

The champions were one of only three sides to win on the opening weekend and I’m backing the build on it with a 2-1 win victory here.
