Hammarby primed for victory

Hammarby are in form and look set to extend their excellent away record when they visit GAIS at Gamla Ullevi on Sunday. They have gone six Allsvenskan games on the road with only one defeat and should be backed to claim another victory here.

They are four places and 11 points above GAIS in the table, but both teams have won more games than they’ve lost this season. GAIS are sixth with five wins and two defeats, while Hammarby are second with ten wins and two losses.

Hammarby left it late to claim a 1-0 win over Varnamo in their last Allsvenskan game last weekend, keeping up their recent winning trend. They have won all nine games in which they’ve scored first this season and had more possession – 73.0% – than in any game this season.

Hammarby are in excellent form, with four straight wins – their best run of the season. They have won five of their last seven matches, having only lost one of the last ten.

It would be no surprise to see Hammarby get on the scoresheet, having scored in 18 of their last 20 league games. They have also averaged 1.71 goals a game in their seven Allsvenskan games against other top-half teams this season.

GAIS have shown signs of vulnerability at the back, conceding in five of their last seven home games in the Allsvenskan.

Hammarby can edge this, with a 1-0 correct score in favour of the visitors looking like a decent bet. No team has finished more games with fewer than three goals in the Allsvenskan than Hammarby this season, and they were 1-0 winners against Varnamo last time out.
