Ajax Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Ajax have won their first two games under new manager John van’t Schip and face a Brighton side that seem to be struggling with the hectic fixture list, with the Seagulls winning just two of their last ten games and failing to win any of their last five on the road.

Ajax vs Brighton Predictions

  • Ajax have won their first two games under John van’t Schip.
  • Brighton have only won two of their last ten games.
  • The Seagulls have drawn four of their last six outings.

Schip steadies the ship in Amsterdam

After an atrocious start to their season, the arrival of new manager John van’t Schip seems to turned Ajax’s fortunes around and he can continue his unbeaten start to life in Amsterdam against Brighton on Thursday.

The former youth coach ended a ten-match winless run in his first game in charge at the start of November as Ajax beat Volendam and their confidence was further boosted as they claimed another win over Heerenveen at the weekend.

They lost at Brighton in their last Europa League outing but, with two draws in three group games, they could bounce back on home soil.

Seagulls form drops off

The Seagulls made a blistering start to the 2023/24 season but have fallen by the wayside a little in recent months, perhaps due to the constraints of a hectic fixture list now they are playing European football.

Their 1-1 draw at Everton on Saturday made it just two wins from their last ten competitive games and they are without a win away from home in five assignments.

Hosts can continue resurgence on Thursday

Given Ajax’s resurgence, backing them in the double chance market appeals but the two sides could share the spoils. Brighton have played out four draws in their last six games and their last two have ended 1-1, so that looks a solid option for correct score punters.

Those in the market for goalscorers should consider Steven Bergwijn. The former Spurs man is Ajax’s top scorer this season with six goals in 11 appearances and his opener against Heerenveen on Sunday made it three goals and one assist from his last five outings.
