Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Predictions
Arsenal once again let three points slip through their fingers last weekend when they visited West Ham. They were two goals up after 35 minutes of the first half had been played, but they let their guard down and allowed Andy Carroll to score a quickfire double on the stroke of half time, and then let him net his hat trick seven minutes after the break. Arsenal did manage to equalise, but at 2-0 up they will know that they missed an opportunity to maintain the gap above them.
With both Leicester and Spurs winning last weekend these dropped points leave them six points adrift of Spurs and 13 behind leaders Leicester in the Premier League, although Arsenal do have a game in hand.
It’s look increasingly unlikely that they can make up that rift, and they’re really relying on both Leicester and Spurs to collapse in the final five games of the season. Of course, even if they do Arsenal still need to get the results, and considering they have only won three of their last 11 outings in all competitions that’s definitely not a given.
Two of these matches were against Barcelona to be fair, but they have also faltered in defeats to the likes of Watford and Swansea during this run. Their main problem is in defence, where they have conceded 17 goals in their last ten games and only kept three clean sheets.
Crystal Palace all but secured their safety in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Norwich last weekend, and then they picked up a point against the out of form Everton in midweek. They should be able to relax now with an 11 point cushion over the relegation zone.
They will still want to end the season well though, and with an FA Cup semi final coming up they need all the confidence they can get. Away from home the normally goalshy Crystal Palace have managed two goals in each of their last four trips away, and they haven’t failed to score in their last six away games.
That doesn’t bode well for Arsenal’s leaky defence, but the hosts know that they have the ability to outscore Crystal Palace, who haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in the Premier League in their last six matches.
This makes odds of 19/20 for Both Teams to Score look very attractive, but I’m going for an Arsenal win with a 3-1 correct score prediction at 10/1.
