Juventus look set to mount a serious title challenge in Serie A this season and they are unbeaten in their last six matches, winning five of those games.

The Old Lady’s success has been built on a strong defence, as they have not conceded a single goal during their ongoing unbeaten sequence and they boast the joint-best defence in the division, conceding just six goals across their 11 games to date.

Each of Juve’s last three matches have ended in 1-0 victories, including in their last home fixture against a Verona side that sit just a point below Cagliari in the standings. It may not be free-flowing football, but another 1-0 success could be on the cards for Massimiliano Allegri’s side this weekend.

Cagliari improving after slow start

If Cagliari were facing an away trip to Juve just a few weeks ago, then many would have been expecting the Old Lady to run up a cricket score, as the visitors had taken just two points from their opening eight games.

However, Claudio Ranieri has since seen his side claim two wins and a draw in the league, part of a four-match unbeaten run that also includes success in the cup against Udinese.

Cagliari should certainly be competitive at the Allianz Stadium, but they are yet to take a point off a side currently in the top half of the standings, while they have lost six on the bounce away to Juve, scoring just one goal during that sequence.
