Arsenal vs FC Zurich Predictions
- Arsenal have won nine of their last 11 games in all competitions.
- Meanwhile, the Gunners have kept four clean sheets in their last six outings, as well as three in their last four at the Emirates Stadium.
- Zurich have failed to score in four of their last seven games, and sit bottom of the Swiss Super League after winning one of their 14 games this season.
Gunners need a win
Arsenal were uncharacteristically lethargic in last Thursday’s 2-0 Europa League loss at PSV, who should arguably have beaten Mikel Arteta’s men by a greater margin. That result leaves the Gunners needing to win their final game – at home to Zurich – to top Group A. Thankfully for Arteta, who is desperate to avoid finishing second and having to play a round-of-32 tie next Spring, the visitors approach this match bottom of the Swiss Super League and unlikely to threaten.
The hosts have won nine of their last 11 games in all competitions, and bounced back from their loss in Eindhoven by crushing Nottingham Forest 5-0 on Sunday. Following that victory, Arsenal have kept four clean sheets in their last six games, including three in their last four at the Emirates Stadium – with only Liverpool breaching their rearguard during that latter run.
Given Arsenal’s newfound defensive resilience, they will expect to face few problems when they host a Zurich side with just nine goals in 14 domestic league outings this season – the fewest in the Swiss top flight. Though Zurich have won two of their four games since bringing in Bo Henriksen in a change of head coach earlier this month, they have failed to score in four of their last seven games and have won just two of their last 14 contests in all competitions.
Arsenal set for comfortable evening
Given the visitors’ attacking woes and the overwhelming likelihood of Arteta picking a strong team to get Arsenal over the line, backing the hosts to win to nil appears an excellent play for Thursday’s match.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have scored three or more goals in four of their last five home games, and could repeat that with a 3-0 victory.
